The silver plated button, of good quality, has the title MANDI STATE POLICE above the Raja’s coat of arms and probably dates from around 1900. It has the backmark of A SUPERIOR MAKE . The shank is present but squashed. Early state police buttons occur only rarely. Mandi in present day Himachal Pradesh was an 11gun salute state. sep10/7
