11th Hussars captain in full dress uniform circa 1880s
£60.00
A very good sepia toned full length studio portrait, 5¾ x 3¾ ins. of an unidentified officer in full dress uniform of the 11th Hussars, holding his busby. It is mounted on a piece of old album card and is in excellent condition with strong toning. He wears Hessian pattern boots and a sword of the mameluke pattern favoured by some lancer and hussar regiments who did not adopt the standard cavalry swords of the period. The distinctive lace on the sleeve indicates that he is a captain. aug22/2
