Gold mounted Masonic charity medal, 1938

The circular medal is dated MDCCXXX (1930) on the obverse beneath a benevolent female figure with two two child. The reverse has the lettering HONORABLE TESTIMONIAL OF MASONIC CHARITY AND BENEVOLENCE INSTITUTED BY H.R.H: AUG FRED: DUKE OF SUSSEX M.W. GRAND MASTER. The medal measures approx 35mm and is within a glazed 14 carat gold mount engraved BROTHER DR M. E. T. BURKE, SERVED AS STEWARD TO THE R.M.I.B. 1938 R.M.I.G. 138. The mount is marked SPENDER, LONDON and s hall marked Birmingham date letter N for 1937 with maker’s mark RS. It is suspended from a ribbon half white and half pale blue [Star of India colours]. We have not tried to remove the medal from its mount but it seems to be in mint condition. The recipient was a member of the Bramahputra Lodge 3419 in Assam, north east India, nowadays written as Brahmaputra.
