East India Railway Volunteer Rifles, officer’s button

A good example of the officer’s 18mm silver plated button which has the title around the railway’s coat of arms with a Victorian crown above. These are the arms of the East India Company in the 1st quarter, the royal arms in the 2nd and 4th quarters, and an elephant in the 3rd quarter. These are all beneath a Victorian crown. The backmark is J PLATT & CO, ST MARTINS LANE. LONDON. There is a little light rubbing with some of the underlying copper bleeding through on the high points of the design. SOLD 10th May 2020
