CAMPBELLPORE. Heavy guns of 12 Eastern Division, Royal Artillery, circa 1895. Panoramic view

£55.00

Royal Artillery, No 12 Eastern Division at Campbellpore, Circa 1895, showing the heavy guns pulled by pairs of elephants. An interesting vintage military photograph showing six heavy guns each with two elephants and a column of supporting equipment and troops at Campbellpore, a military cantonment on the North West Frontier between Rawalpindi and Peshawar near Attock, in present day Pakistan. The panorama is of two parts on two old album pages that were taken from an old album largely of 1st Bn Gordon Highlanders photographs. There is a water stain to the left edge of the photograph and some other markings but it is quite a scarce image. The reverse of one page shows the lake at Kandy in Ceylon [Sri Lanka] and the other shows K Company 1st Gordons in tropical highland dress. 21 x 8ins Total Size of 2 Part Panorama
