Army of India Medal with three early clasps, a glazed silver gilt specimen
The medal is a glazed specimen in silver gilt with the three clasps Laswarree [100 awarded], Battle of Deig [47 awarded], Defence of Delhi [5 awarded]. These specimen medals were struck by the Mint from the same dies as the medals that were awarded to troops but were made in very small numbers for presentation to museums and the occasional distinguished person who had a special connection with the medal although not qualifying for one in the normal way. An extremely fine example with three of the early and scarce clasps. This medal comes from a collection put together some 20-30 years ago and is one of a small group we are now able to offer.
