A heraldic crest of a boar’s head in blackened tin

The dramatic armorial crest of a boar’s head is tin, blackened on the front. We are not sure of its origin or purpose but wonder if it could have been used as a mold of some sort – probably with a culinary use. Its origin is probably 19th century but a small ring has been added to hang it for display in much more recent time. We have several other crests that were acquired with it and will list those at some time. This one measures approximately 4 x 2½ ins.       oct13/5
