A Bengal cavalry officer photographed circa 1860s


The albumed print portrait of the seated officer, holding an 1821 pattern cavalry sword, measures approx 5 x 3.75 ins and is tipped by paper hinges to part of an old album leaf. although unidentified the damaged album from which this portrait came contained others of identified officers who were serving with Sikh irregular forces in the period just after the mutiny of their own regiments.
