62nd (Wiltshire) Regt. A group of the officers at Lucknow in 1869, several identified.
A good vintage group photograph showing the officers in one of those typical Victorian relaxed but organised images. Most of the officers wear white tropical dress uniform and others wear various types of mufti, grouped in front of an imposingly columned building. A few of the sitters are identified in pencil on the lower margin of the card on which it is mounted, Lts Arthur Goding and Henry Jones, Capt Robert Neville Gream, Ensign Clayton William James Hingston. The lt col commanding at the time was William Lenox Ingall, C.B. The 62nd (Wiltshire Regiment) had embarked for India in 1868 but had previously served there during the Sutlej Campaign. The image, which measures 8½ x 6½ins [22 x 16.5cm], is a little damaged and ragged along the lower edge, although this does not affect any of the figures.
