Medley, Julius George, Captain Bengal Engineers and Garrison Engineers of Lucknow: A Year’s Campaigning in India, from March, 1857, to March, 1858. With Plans of the Military Operations. W Thacker & Co [London] 1858, 1st edition 8vo.
Fine and large plan of operations before Delhi (4 ins to 1 mile), 3 other folding plans (Operations at Lucknow, Seaton’s Campaign, Khanbard Heights), frontispiece tinted litho of a Native Punjab Officer (A Muzbee Sikh), ix.213pp, [iii publisher’s ads]. Publisher’s original red cloth blind stamped and gilt, spine faded but the book is perfectly sound retaining original advertising endpapers, all maps are very neatly folded and the contents are particularly clean, no previous ownership markings. This title is quite hard to find with all the maps intact: the large map of Delhi is one of the best for following events of the siege. Ladendorf 330.
